Meet Liam: Your 2026 Student President

Liam is in his second year of a Bachelor of Business (Marketing), splitting his time between the City Campus and Bedford Park. “I love the people I study with,” he says. “At the City, it’s such a close-knit group — you go from class to the kitchen to the study spaces basically as a herd.”

You’ll usually find him on Level 4 or 5 at the City Campus kitchen, eating Woolies Chicken Katsu, or around Level 1 of the Hub out the back of FUSA — when he’s up at Bedford Park.

Liam is currently the General Secretary, where he’s helped expand financial support for students during the cost-of-living crisis, strengthen campus culture, and create a safer, more accessible environment for everyone. He’s also worked to grow support for student clubs and ensure international students continue to have the backing they need to thrive at Flinders.

When I ask how he switches off, Liam laughs. “I’m doing five topics this semester,” he admits. “Switching off is still a work in progress.” He’s trying to go “spa style” — soft lamp, no phone — to avoid burnout. Outside of uni, he works at [redacted department store], which he says has taught him “a lot of emotional resilience and strength.” Once he steps into the role of Student President, though, he’ll be focusing more on FUSA and less on [redacted name of store].

Liam’s focus for the year ahead is simple: to make sure every student feels supported, seen, and part of something bigger.

Student Council 2026 will begin their tenure in December.
