Academic Advocacy & financial counselling 

Our Financial Counselling and Academic Advocacy services are available through appointments (phone, Microsoft Teams or in-person) and by email.

The Advocacy and Financial Counselling service at Flinders University Student Association (FUSA) assists students with a range of academic, administrative and welfare related issues. Our aim to help you understand University policies and systems to ensure you are aware of the options available to you. 

This service is available to all currently enrolled students of Flinders University and is free, independent and confidential. Our service includes advocacy, support, assistance, information and referrals on any issues that may affect the lives of students. 

Whether you’re dissatisfied with a grade, struggling to make financial ends meet or are trying to wrap your head around University policy, FUSA is here to help. 

Financial Counselling  

Get financial information and assistance regarding government assistance, debt negotiation, hardship loan variations, personal finances, budgeting and more. 

Academic Advocacy 

Get help with re-marks & re-submissions, grade appeals, academic integrity issues, issues with University staff and remission of student fees. 

The Advocacy team is available via phone and email. Students can book via form will receive a phone appointment time. To contact Student Assist directly, please email student.assist@flinders.edu.au and our team will get back to you. 

We provide advice to individual students about your rights and responsibilities within the university, in a respectful, non-judgmental and timely manner. Most importantly, we systemically review and work on issues that affect the whole student body, and we do this by continuously assessing grievance trends, evaluating University policies and procedures, and providing submissions to relevant University units and external bodies accordingly.
