Navigating your way through uni is challenging enough without the added stress of financial worries. Our Financial Counsellor is available to support you with a comprehensive range of free, independent and confidential services.

Government assistance

We can help you check your eligibility for government support such as Centrelink payments and concessions, and guide you through next steps so you can access the support you are entitled to.

Emergency financial assistance

If unexpected financial challenges come up, we can help you get through the immediate period. Support may include:

  • Supermarket vouchers

  • Food parcels

  • Metro cards

We can also assist with budget planning, and support you to apply for hardship variations on loans where appropriate.

Interest-free loans

If you need short-term support to cover urgent costs, we offer interest-free loans of up to $500. The process is designed to be straightforward and focused on reducing stress. Repayments are arranged at a pace that works for you.

Tax Help

Need help navigating the ATO and not sure where to start with lodging a tax return? Each year from 31 July to 31 October, FUSA provides free tax return lodgement assistance in association with the ATO’s Tax Help Program.

Debt management

If you are facing difficulties with creditors, we can negotiate repayment arrangements on your behalf and explain available options. This includes the implications of debt recovery procedures, bankruptcy, and alternatives.
