COVID-19 Emergency Support

The South Australian Government has made available a once-off support payment to currently enrolled international university students who have experienced financial hardship as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Flinders University Student Association (FUSA) has been tasked with administering this payment to eligible students enrolled at Flinders University. 

Payments of $500 will be made to eligible applicants. There is a limit of one payment per eligible student only. 

Please note: If you have already received the Matthew Flinders Scholarship or FUSA COVID-19 Support Payment you will not be eligible to apply. If you are a currently enrolled international student at Flinders University and have already received either the Matthew Flinders Scholarship or FUSA COVID-19 Emergency Support Payment, the $500 South Australian Government Support Payment has been automatically paid to your designated bank account. To be eligible, you must be –

  • A currently enrolled student at Flinders University, and;
  • An international student living onshore in Australia, and;
  • Be able to demonstrate financial hardship as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, and;
  • Not already be in receipt of the Matthew Flinders Scholarship and/or FUSA COVID-19 Emergency Support Payment.


Applications for FUSA COVID-19 Emergency Support Payments have now closed. 

Through this one-off support payment, FUSA and Flinders University have assisted more than 2000 students experiencing hardship as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.  Thank you to everyone involved in making this support possible. Due to your great efforts in these difficult times we’ve been able to give timely assistance to those in our community who need it the most.

If you have recently applied for the COVID-19 Emergency Support Payment or South Australian Government Support Payment, you should have received a copy of your application by email. Due to high demand, there may be some delays in processing your application. In the mean time please head to the Student System via the Flinders Dashbboard to make sure your banks details are up to date.
