Available during the second half of the year. The value of the grant awarded will be $500.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible you must:

• Be a domestic or international student; and
• Have successfully completed at least 36 units of study at Flinders University recently, and
• Be able to demonstrate financial hardship or a significant deterioration in financial circumstances;
• Demonstrate that the grant will assist them to continue their studies.
• Be enrolled full-time at Flinders University*

*Applicants who have extenuating circumstances that prevent them from studying full-time (e.g. disabilities, illness, or carer responsibilities) may apply, with eligibility considered on a case-by-case basis.

When will my application be processed

• Applications received by the Semester 2 census date will be assessed together.
• Applicants will be notified of the outcome via email.
• Payments for successful applicants will be processed within two weeks of notification.
• Subject to funding availability, applications received after the census date may be assessed monthly until available funding has been allocated.

You must complete all details on the application form and supply all required documents for your application to be considered.

Proof of Financial Hardship

For students in receipt of Centrelink income support payment:

• Centrelink Income Statement for the last 30 days

For students not in receipt of Centrelink income support payment:

• Short personal statement explaining why you are ineligible for Centrelink
• Bank Account Statements/transaction list for all accounts (last 60 days showing account name – no phone screenshots)

For all students:

• If applicable, provide any other relevant documentation to support your application (e.g. high utility bill or receipt of item purchased for your studies such as a laptop)

Important Information

Applications are submitted online using the Student Support Grant application form and must include supporting documentation.

The Advocacy and Welfare Team will assess applicants against eligibility criteria for open grants and approve applications as per the grant round schedule until funds are exhausted. 

Please note: The FUSA Advocacy and Welfare staff may invite you to attend an interview with an Advocacy and Welfare team member if further information or clarification is required to assess your application.

Approved grants will be paid by direct bank transfer into the bank account recorded in the University’s student system.
